Globetrotters' Blackjack - Tactical quiz game

Globetrotters’ Blackjack is a strategic quiz game that requires teams to combine knowledge, tactics, and controlled risk-taking. Teams progress in the game by answering questions and playing at the blackjack table. The points earned from the questions serve as the game’s currency.

The game features 3 levels, each offering greater points and bonuses, providing teams with increasing opportunities to accumulate points. The team with the highest score at the end of the game wins.

Purpose of the game

Globetrotters’ Blackjack is perfect for team-building during meeting breaks or even before dinner.

This game takes trivia quizzes to a whole new level. Teams don’t just answer questions one after the other — they need to strategize, track the scores of other teams, and take calculated risks to win.

In the game, creating a strategy, teamwork, and leveraging the skills of different team members play a crucial role.

The game allows you to choose the desired topics for the questions and add your own custom questions.

You can include your own, customized questions for your meeting or event. Teams’ answers and statistics are immediately visible, making them useful during the meeting itself.

Additionally, the game offers the option to use default questions, which involve slowly revealing images of different global destinations that teams need to identify.

Game duration and adaptation to events of different sizes

The recommended effective duration of the game is 30-60 minutes.

The game can be organized in one or multiple sessions.

For example, the game can be experienced at the start of the day or while waiting for dinner, perhaps as a one-hour session. Alternatively, the game can be played throughout the day during breaks.

The game is perfectly suited for events of all sizes.

It works equally well for small groups as well as events with thousands of participants.

Teams can continue the game whenever it suits them. Playing does not need to happen simultaneously, and it can be done throughout the day, during breaks. This makes it easy to manage even large numbers of participants.

Globetrotters’ Blackjack Table Rules:

  1. The deck is shuffled each time before a new round starts.
  2. At the beginning of the round, you must place your bet, choosing from 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, or 5000 points. Your bet cannot exceed your current point total. At the start of the game, you can only place bets up to 100 points. Higher bets become available when you reach the bronze, silver, and gold levels.
  3. Next, the dealer deals one card to herself and two cards to you.
  4. You then decide whether to take another card or not. You can draw as many cards as you like, as long as the total of your hand does not exceed 21. Your goal is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over.
  5. Each face card (Jack, Queen, King) is worth 10 points.
  6. An Ace is either worth 1 or 11. The value of Aces is automatically determined to maximize the value of your hand while keeping the sum 21 or below, if possible.
  7. If you get a total of 21 with two cards, you have a “Blackjack” and win 2.5 times your bet.
  8. Once you no longer want additional cards, the dealer starts drawing cards for themselves. The dealer must take a card until they reach a total of 16, and will stop drawing cards at 17 or higher.
  9. If your hand is closer to 21 than the dealer’s, you win 2 times your bet.
  10. If the hands are tied (totals of 17, 18, 19, 20, or 21), the dealer wins if they have a “Blackjack.” Otherwise, it’s a draw and you get your bet back.
  11. If the dealer’s hand is closer to 21, they win and you lose your bet.
